Pre-Kindergarten
The half-day Pre-Kindergarten Class is for four and young five-year-olds who will be attending kindergarten the following year. The curriculum topic introduced at the first circle directs activities for learning in the centers for the day. Children move to small groups at various learning centers to address math, language arts, science/social studies, reading/writing, dramatic play, blocks, and gross and fine motor activities. All centers are established to promote learning through developmentally-appropriate “hands-on” activities. Problem solving skills are part of an integrated curriculum, which also includes field trips and music/movement classes. A special art program, geared to the “Wonders of Art” from the theme of Nature and Native American Indians, is unique to the Pre-Kindergarten Class. Children are also able to enjoy part of each day outside on the playground.
